Plant-Based HOT MESS is a weekly newsletter by me, Michael Valiant. I am a writer, recipe developer, plant-based chef and, along with my wife Tina, restaurant owner, and Vegan Meat Producer based in Barrie, Ontario, Canada.

After 10 years, 6 vegan restaurants & franchises, and 4 hungry teenagers at home, we know plant-based cooking - And we love to share!

This newsletter offers plant-based recipes we are working on (for our first Vegan Cookbook!), behind the scenes peeks and general information on how to best treat your plants (to get them to the dinner plate!)

We are Michael and Tina Valiant. We own and operate Valiant’s Eatery, a quick service vegan restaurant with more than 100 incredible menu items (I know! How do you even choose!? We get asked a lot)

We also craft plant meat under the name Field Grown Foods.

Before that, from 2014-2019, we opened and operated Boon Burger, Canada’s first vegan burger joint, in Barrie, ON and expanded that concept to 5 franchise locations before leaving to open Valiant’s Foods.

What can we say? We love plant food!
